Alright guys, I know you’re usually far too busy working, playing and meeting members of the opposite sex to worry about your skin. But just because you’re a guy doesn’t mean your skin needs aren’t exactly the same as a woman’s. Men are at a much greater risk of skin cancer than women, and though your skin is slightly thicker, it’s often more sensitive due to our frequent shaving. By taking good care of your skin, you can retain that handsome George Clooney-esque visage even into your 60s and 70s.
There are a few simple routines men can add to their daily skin care routine to keep their skin looking its best for decades. Use these four simple skin care tips exclusively for men.
Wash
A good daily facial wash can be a great way to help you wake up in the morning as well as prevent acne and other skin flare-ups.
Moisturize
Men have slightly oilier skin than women, and as a result, tend not to wrinkle quite as much or as quickly as women. However, men are at a much greater risk of sun exposure and skin cancers due to their propensity for outdoor work and sports. A quality moisturizer with a high SPF can help protect men’s skin from the sun and stave off wrinkling.
If you experience a lot of irritation from shaving, moisturizing before shaving and at other times throughout the day can help soothe irritation and prevent razor burn. Choose a moisturizer with vegetable oils that do not clog pores, and try to avoid anything with mineral oil.
Exfoliate
Yes, even men need to exfoliate. Exfoliating your skin helps remove dead skin cells and dirt and helps improve circulation in your skin, giving you healthy radiant skin. Sugar scrubs are great for the face and body, and you can always find good benzoyl-peroxide scrubs if you struggle with acne.
Balm
Chapped lips aren’t pleasant on anyone. Lip balm is so convenient to carry around it really doesn’t make sense not to have it. Look for a Lip Balm with SPF for added sun protection.
